Schering-Plough UK Charitable Donations Programme
Through our Schering-Plough UK Charitable Contributions Programme we are dedicated to working with the citizens of our communities to help them realise their full potential and enhance their quality of life.
Schering-Plough UK, like many other corporate organisations, receives hundreds of charitable requests each year. In order to ensure that Schering-Plough is able to make a real difference, a Schering-Plough UK Charitable Donations Programme has been established.
Through this programme, Schering-Plough UK supports two charities annually:
One national charity intending to work on a project or whose sole work is focused around disease prevention or a related social issue
One charity based within the Hertfordshire area, local to where Schering-Plough UK's head office is based
Both charities are selected annually by Schering-Plough UK's employees. The local charity does not necessarily need to have a health focus but must benefit the Welwyn Garden City community in a tangible way.
Schering-Plough UK makes a sizeable donation to support the charities’ nominated projects. For the last two years we have supported the Fit for Sport Foundation which provides entire families with access to sports clubs, education and tools needed to lead a healthy lifestyle.
For 2009 our staff selected ‘Kids Company’ and we will soon begin to support their work in helping to turn around the lives of some of the most abused and damaged young people in the country. You can find out more information about Kids Company and their work at http://www.kidsco.org.uk.
Locally we support Hertfordshire Community Foundation, where our head office is based, which works to reduce deprivation across the county. It does so by providing grants to a whole range of organisations that might otherwise be forgotten. The broad areas that these local grants support as requested by our employees are diversity, disability and children’s projects. You can find out more about the foundation and how to apply for a grant through them at www.hertscf.org.uk.
Additional requests for funding will only be considered outside of this policy as an absolute exception and usually in relation to a local or national disaster/incident of some kind. Any queries or enquiries should be emailed to uk.charitabledonations@spcorp.com All emails will be responded to within five working days.
